Here at Show Me Something Interesting, we like to explore the snowier parts of the world. On a trip to Greenland, I decided to take a trip to the top of a glacier. The trip started from Tasiilaq (otherwise known as Ammassalik) on the East Side of Greenland, where I borded a helicopter which took me over some stunning scenery. To get to Tasiilaq, you have to travel from Kulusuk (the main transport hub on the East side of Greenland), normally by helicopter.
The video below shows the view from the top of the glacier down to the lake of icebergs below. It was, apart from the wind, completely quiet. Only the voices of the tour group could be heard. The air was so clear, and the sky so blue, that the light was dazzling, bouncing off of the snow. It was such a strange feeling, completely cut off from civilisation, atop this beautiful glacier. Somehow it was more spiritual than any building I've ever visited. For me, the sight of the mighty iceberg lake, the bright sun and clear sky, and the crisp white snow, felt so euphoric that I was buzzing for some time afterwards. When it came to go back on the helicopter, I found myself saying goodbye to this amazing place. I shall always remember the feeling I had, standing on that glacier, seeing nothing but the raw beauty of the north all around me. I hope the short video below can show you something of the beauty I witnessed.
